Let it come back to you.
Recordo is a macOS menu bar app that quizzes you on the terms you asked Claude Code about before you forget them.

> what is LCP?
✻ Thinking…
LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) is the time until the largest image or text block in the viewport renders. It’s one of the Core Web Vitals, and under 2.5 seconds counts as good.

- Ask Claude Code what a term means, as you already do.
/btwand/termquestions count too. - Once a day, Claude turns the answer you read into a card: a short definition and three wrong answers that sound right.
- Three due cards (you can set up to 10) appear in the corner, at most once every three hours by default. Your keystrokes stay in the app you’re using.
Reviews timed to the forgetting curve.
Recordo spaces reviews along Ebbinghaus’s forgetting curve and asks again as a term starts to fade, so it sticks. Each correct answer moves the card up a box, and it waits longer before it’s due again.

Recordo stays out of your way.
- Automatic quizzes skip your Quiet Hours, full-screen apps, and any Focus you turn on.
- “Later” closes the panel, and the same cards come back at the next quiz.
- If Claude got a definition wrong, discard the card after you answer.
Every card in one window.
Search terms and definitions and see when each card comes back. ⌃⌥⌘C opens the window from any app.

Recordo keeps them in one JSON file in your Application Support folder and has no account or server of its own. During a sync, it sends your new prompts, parts of the conversations around your questions, and your existing card tags to Claude through your own claude CLI, with tools, hooks, and MCP servers turned off.
Pricing
$4.99 a month. Just kidding, it’s free. Syncs run on your own Claude Code and count toward its usage.
Install
Build Recordo from source. You need macOS 14 or later, a Swift 6 toolchain (Xcode or the Command Line Tools), and the Claude Code CLI, logged in.
git clone https://github.com/impelcrypto/recordo.git
cd recordo
make install # build, copy to /Applications, and launch

- The first launch syncs your last 30 days of questions in about 30 minutes. A percentage next to the menu bar icon shows the progress.
- Recordo and its cards use English, or Japanese if that’s your Mac’s first language.
- To pause quizzes during Focus, give Recordo Full Disk Access with the button on the Quizzes page in Settings. Recordo can’t see a Focus that starts on a schedule, so cover those hours with Quiet Hours.
